Painter Mann is a dead private investigator currently residing in what he calls the “In Between” – a place where people who have been murdered go instead of going to their final destination, as you will. Gumshoe Blues – Blog Tour – Book Review

Written with a voice and style so strong that it was as if the narrator in my head was from a 1940’s noir film set in New York. However, it wasn’t too long before I realized the voice narrating the story in my head needed to change accents because it is actually set in Seatown, England featuring a main character who has most definitely seen better days.

Death of Mrs. Westaway

Audio Review: Upon turning on the audio version of The Death of Mrs. Westaway, the reader is immediately met with beautifully eerie music that sets the tone for the story perfectly. Even though Hal knows this cannot be correct, she goes to the funeral and to the home afterwards in hopes that the Will may leave her with just a little to pay off her debts. 7 deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle

The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle is what has been accurately described as an Agatha Christie mystery with Downton Abbey and Quantum Leap all rolled into one.  I had the pleasure of listening to this book on audio and seriously loved every single moment.  It is easily one of the most clever and well thought-out books I’ve ever read.  My mind is blown just thinking about what it must have taken to create the timeline alone for the entire narrative.  On top of that I can’t even begin to imagine how much time, effort, diligence, and patience it took to plot out every single plot point without making a huge misstep.  By the end of the novel no stone was left unturned and there was no lingering unanswered question that I could smugly say “you missed this one little thing…”
