Cute, fun story where dinosaurs such as T-Rex's are an integral part of the Houston Police Department. In Terrible Lizard we get to see what it's like to work as a police officer paired with a velociraptor - at both work and home. Description: There is no greater job than animal handler for a Velociraptor. Or so Oak Jones thought. He’s wanted on the Police Dinosaur Unit all his life. Now that he’s in, he’s discovered that training a Police Working Velociraptor is a lot harder than he ever imagined. And if he thought training would be difficult, living with a Velociraptor is a whole new level. Banshee can clear a six-foot fence like it was nothing, and he has a love for eating the neighborhood cats, which is putting Oak on the outs with his next-door neighbor, Christy Dao. But there is a reason for everything, and when Oak discovers why Banshee struggles, it breaks his heart. #bookreview #bookrecommendations #bookstagram #scifibooks #scifi #sciencefiction #bibliophile #whatiread #bookblogger #currentlyreading #bookstoread #bookcommunity #books #terriblelizard #douggoodman
Proximity by Jem Tugwell. Entertaining, yet thought-provoking police procedural set in the near future where society has given away their personal freedoms in favor of being more secure and more healthy. Each individual has the iME implanted and the government knows where they are at all times. So, when a woman goes missing the police, or proximity crime unit, no one really believes it. On top of that, they are so unaccustomed to investigating and barely have any idea on how to do their jobs. Overall, I rather enjoyed this book. While it is a thriller it had a humorous side to it too as you see how the iME has invaded their lives. Ever gotten mad at a vending machine when it didn't give you what you wanted? What if it could tattle on you if it didn't like your attitude? #bookreview #bookstagram #instabook #scifibooks #scifi #sciencefiction #bibliophile #whatiread #bookblogger #currentlyreading #bookstoread #bookcommunity #books #technothriller #proximity #jemtugwell #thriller #thrillerbooks #policeprocedural
A fun read to start off December about a mean, cranky curmudgeon who gives Ebenezer Scrooge and the Grinch a run for their money. Christmas may never be the same if Slanticulis Kawz has anything to say about it. Finalist in the 2019 Indie Book Award - Childrens/Juvenile category. Synopsis: Wicked old men who live in big empty houses are often just lonely and misunderstood. This is most definitely not one of those stories. Slanticulis Kawz is the meanest, crankiest, old curmudgeon that you will ever meet. What kind of person takes pride in nurturing weeds and pulling flowers? One that is only truly happy when spreading misery, that’s who. He never passes up an opportunity to upset a child, especially if they are of the happy variety. In what can only be described as a moment of pure confuddlery, an overworked elf makes a mistake of epic proportions by placing the fate of Christmas firmly into these bony hands. Two outcomes are possible but only one is certain. Slanticulis could roll up the sleeves of his smelly old duffel coat and help deliver a Merry Christmas to all. Then again, he could unleash his unique brand of mischief and mayhem upon all who he despises - which is pretty much everyone except for his four legged companion, Trix. #bookreview #bookstagram #instabook #kidsbookstagram #middlegrade #books #whatiread #bookblogger #currentlyreading #bookstoread #bookcommunity #childrenbook #bookworm #beaufortsmedley #amostslanticulischristmas
Snow Creek by Gregg Olsen. I truly had a hard time putting this one down. The whole thing was so captivating that I once I started I just didn't want to stop reading it. Memorable characters and a terrific setting in this mystery thriller as many of the characters are in a self-imposed isolation. Definitely a book to pick up if you're looking for a new detective series. #snowcreek #greggolsen #thriller #suspense #suspensethriller #bookreview #bookrecommendations #bookstagram #instabook #policeprocedural @bookouture
Thanksgiving Rules by Laurie Friedman. In this savory and delicious picture book, Percy Isaac Gifford gives us 10 Thanksgiving holiday rules for how to get the most out of the food and festivities that make up this holiday. Most of his rules are quite nice, but they are also all about how to get to the food part faster, such as how to greet the guests politely, but quickly so that it doesn't hold up everyone getting to the main event. #bookrecommendations #bookstagram #instabook #kidsbookstagram #kidstagram #books #bibliophile #whatiread #bookblogger #bookstoread #bookcommunity #childrenbook #bookworm #picturebook #bookreview
Secret Service by Tom Bradby A mix between spy thriller and political intrigue that puts Russia's desire for influence in other countries elections front and center as part of the plot. Everyone becomes a suspect in this one. Everyone. Lots of action, intelligence work, and a couple of deaths keep this story very engaging. If that isn't enough, the main character also has a husband, two teenagers, and a mother who's ill to juggle. Description: Senior MI6 officer Kate Henderson is in possession of the political equivalent of a nuclear bomb. She heads up the Russia Desk of the Secret Intelligence Service, and one of her undercover operations has revealed some alarming evidence that a senior UK politician is a high-level Russian informer. Determined to find the identity of the traitor, Kate must risk everything to get to the truth. Until a young woman is brutally murdered as a consequence, which puts Kate and her team under the spotlight. With blood on her hands, her reputation to uphold, her family hanging by a thread, and an election looming, Kate is quickly running out of options—and out of time . . . #bookreview #bookrecommendations #bookstagram #instabook #thrillerbooks #thriller #suspense #suspensethriller #politicalthriller #spythriller #books #whatiread #bookblogger #currentlyreading #bookstoread #bookcommunity
